Africa-Press – Zambia. A WIFE and her son have been arrested for murdering her husband after suspecting him of practicing witchcraft. Police in Kitwe have arrested Phoebe Kunda, aged 62, and her Lunenga Chanda, aged 33 for murdering James Chanda, aged 73. Copperbelt province Commissioner of Police, Elias Chushi said Kunda and Lunenga allegedly accused Mr Kunda of practicing witchcraft.
“According to the reporter the deceased, who was her grandfather was accused of practicing witchcraft. These accusations started a long time ago. However, on the mentioned date, she saw Lunenga beating his father using kicks, lifted him shoulder high and threw him to the ground violently. Whilst struggling to get up, the wife slapped him several times until he became unconscious,” he said
Mr Chushi said Mr Kunda was seen discharging blood from the nose and the mouth. “He was rushed to Kitwe Teaching Hospital where he died around 07: 00 hours. The body of the deceased is now in the mortuary awaiting postmortem while the two suspects are in Police custody,” Mr Chushi
