Africa-Press – Zambia. GREEN Buffaloes Women Football Club midfielder Irene ‘Xavi’ Lungu has been named in the best 11 squad for the group stage at the CAF Women Champions League.
Lungu is the only Zambian in the team dominated by players from host club ASFAR of Morocco and South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns, who are the defending champions.
Lungu shined in Buffaloes’ 4-0 win over Liberian side Determined Girls in the opening match on October 30. She provided three assists to earn the player-of-the-match accolade. Lungu scored with his left in the 2-1 loss to ASFAR last Wednesday.
Buffaloes, who qualified for the CAF Champions League by virtue of being Council of Southern Africa Football Associations queens, were eliminated after losing 2-0 to Simba Queens.
