Africa-Press – Zambia. Young People Are Regretting for UPND- Tilka Paljk Today is independence day and I don’t feel very patriotic. After the raid that happened at Decapo where many non-black Zambia where intimidated by DEC, forced to prove that they are Zambian and many of them taken away on buses to random places, its very hard to say “I’m a proud Zambian” when Zambian people don’t even believe you.
I have said it time and time again how it’s very difficult for people to believe I am Zambian because I am not black, and this weekend unfortunately, has proved that many people in Zambia don’t believe that you can be Zambian and of another ethnicity other than black.
We voted in a glorious government that we believed would change so much, but at what cost? Was it worth it to get a new government, to have a better standard of living for the price of people like me being intimidated by the government to prove I’m Zambian? It’s independence day and it’s a new dawn, we are the people of Zambia and we have the power to change our country. Have a safe independence day 🇿🇲
