Africa-Press – Zambia. Peace and security in Kaumbwe Constituency, Eastern Province, have been disrupted following a violent confrontation between Zambians and Mozambican citizens.
The altercation reportedly resulted in the death of a Mozambican national, who was allegedly hacked during the fight, leading to the detention of three Zambians.
In retaliation, Zambians reportedly captured a Mozambican trader who had crossed into Zambia.
Kaumbwe Member of Parliament Aaron Mwanza raised the issue in Parliament as an urgent matter without notice, revealing that the Mozambican government had deployed over 200 soldiers to the border, escalating tensions and threatening regional security.
Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti directed the MP to submit a formal question to allow the government to address the situation.
