Africa-Press – Zambia. Zambia’s yearly copper production has continued to drop, latest mining data has shown. The latest mining figures have shown that the country registered a 4.6 fall in production for the third quarter of 2022.
Zambia Chamber of Mines Chief Executive Officer Solwani Chilembo attributed the fall to a number of factors including supply chain challenges and heavy rains.
He said during the period under review, Zambia produced 565,806.9 tons 593,500.42 tons produced during same time last year. Apparently, the 4.6 drop represents a summed fall of 27,693.52 tons between January and September 2022, compared to same period in 2021. Meanwhile, copper is the country’s main source of foreign currency.
