Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Police have confirmed the arrest of Tawanda Hairwadzi (43) on 09 July 2025 in Portugal in connection with a case of Theft of Trust Property.

In a statement issued on Friday, 11 July, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said Hairwadzi and his wife, Shungu Mwashaireni Hairwadzi (43), are the owners of a registered company, Eptha Energy [Private] Limited.Said Nyathi:

In August 2021, the company entered into a contract with Addax Energy [Private] Limited to supply 2,000,000 litres of fuel to a government ministry. Eptha Energy was contracted to provide transport services only.

Between 01 August 2021 and 30 November 2021, Addax Energy released 1,040,000 litres of fuel to Eptha Energy for delivery. The fuel was worth USD 743,600.00.

However, Addax Energy did not receive payment from the ministry and later discovered that the fuel had not been delivered, and that Eptha Energy had ceased operations.
