Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. EPWORTH North residents have commended President Emmerson Mnangagwa and business mogul Kudakwashe Tagwirei for delivering critical infrastructure projects, including road construction and borehole drilling, in a swift response to community needs.

The developments came just days after Tagwirei, the Sakunda Holdings boss and Zanu PF central committee member, pledged accelerated community upliftment during the party’s ward 6 by-election campaign launch recently.

The immediate rollout of these projects has strengthened public confidence in the Zanu PF party ahead of the plebiscite.

A resident captured on video said they had seen progress in their area, which denotes Zanu PF’s commitment to addressing long-standing struggles in the shanty area. “We are witnessing real change, roads being fixed and boreholes being drilled where we struggled for years,” the resident said.

“This is leadership that keeps its word.”

Residents said the government’s intervention addresses long-standing challenges in Epworth North, where poor road networks and water shortages have plagued the community.

“While others play politics, Dr K Tagwirei plays development,” another resident, captured in the same video, said.

“Here in Epworth, people used to look down upon us, but because of this development, we feel honoured and grateful to have a Member of Parliament and councillor.”

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) has announced August 2 as the date for the Epworth Local Board ward 6 by-election.

The seat fell vacant following the conviction of former deputy mayor councillor Nobody Makoni.

In a notice, Zec chief elections officer Simbarashe Tongayi said the by-election will be contested by Civilised Bushe (Zanu PF), Alice Nyahunzvi (MDC-T) and Peter Nyapetwa (Independent).
