Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Call to Worship Global’s 17th Anniversary ‘Night of Worship’ – this year headlined by top South African gospel singer Ntokozo Mbano, along with Zimbabwe’s own Janet Manyowa – lived up to its top billing, with thousands descending on the capital’s Harare Gardens on Saturday night to join in extraordinary scenes of lively praise and fervent worship that organisers described as “historic” and “phenomenal”.
Speaking just after the worship event, Call to Worship co-founder Apostle Philip Pike said the “incredibly electric atmosphere” and great turnout was an answer to prayer and evidence of Zimbabwe’s deepening faith in God.
“Over the years, our heart and prayer has been to build a national altar where believers from all walks of life come together and lift up one sound to the One True God, the King of kings, in unity,” Apostle Pike said.
“Tonight, we witnessed exactly that, and so we are truly grateful to God for His faithfulness.”
The interdenominational gathering, themed “Worship His Majesty,” drew upwards of 7 000 worshippers from across the nation.
Led by SA gospel icon Ntokozo Mbambo and top local gospel artiste Janet Manyowa – both supported by the Call to Worship Choir – the event exploded to life just after 6pm as thousands of worshippers actively engaged and participated in lively praise and fervent worship.
Mbambo ministered with her powerful voice and soul-stirring passion, delivering commanding renditions of gospel anthems like Jehovah Is Your Name, Esiphambanweni, and In the Shadow. Her rich, dynamic vocals moved the crowd of worshippers to engage at a deep and personal level, leaving many in reverent tears and others in profound, contemplative prayer and reflection.
“There is a tangible hunger for God’s presence here,” Ntokozo said.
“Zimbabwe carries a unique and powerful sound of worship, and to be a vessel in this scared moment was both a privilege and a profound blessing.”
Earlier Janet Manyowa had set the stage ablaze with her typical elegance and authority as she delivered powerful hits like Zadzisa, Nyasha neNgoni, and Ndimi.
“When thousands of voices from different walks of life rise as one in worship, you don’t just hear it – you feel the walls come down as Jesus is lifted up,” Janet said.
The Call to Worship Global Choir, celebrating 17 years of ministry, and led by co-founder and choir director Pastor Charlotte Pike delivered breathtaking performances, backed by a full band and a fervent intercessory team.
Founded in 2007, Call to Worship Global has grown from a local initiative into a powerful interdenominational worship movement.
It stands as a vital platform for raising worship leaders, forging unity among churches and Christian leaders, and creating the stage for prayer, healing and national revival.
