Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. THE Health and Child Care ministry (MoHCC), with support from the Global Fund, is reviewing the country’s digital health blueprint, a key strategic framework for accelerating the digitisation of the country’s health sector.
This emerged at a multi-sectoral meeting held in the capital on Wednesday.
The meeting brought together officials from government ministries, development partners and the private sector to evaluate progress and identify priority action for implementing the blueprint.
The blueprint serves as a national roadmap for integrating technology into healthcare.
Health and Child Care ministry Permanent Secretary, Aspect Maunganidze, emphasised the critical importance of the review.
“The digital health blueprint is not just a policy document; it is a national vision to harness the power of technology for better health outcomes,” Maunganidze said.
He highlighted the tangible benefits being realised through digitisation.
“Digitisation has enhanced disease tracking, streamlined patient information systems and strengthened coordination between health facilities,” he said.
“As we move forward, interoperability and data security will be central to our next phase of implementation.”

According to the Global Fund, the country’s digital health strategy 2021-25 outlines a vision for integrated, interoperable and patient-centred digital health systems.
The strategy is anchored on global best practices and aligns with the World Health Organisation guidelines on national digital health.
In 2024, the government launched the official AI policy, which outlines a strong level of ambition and sets the stage for robust health-specific AI applications in the future.
