Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. ZIMBABWE showcased a stunning display of resilience and superb bowling to register a massive 67-run victory over Sri Lanka in their second match of the Tri-Series yesterday.

The win provides a crucial boost after their opening 5-wicket defeat to hosts Pakistan on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka’s decision to field first after winning the toss backfired as Zimbabwe’s batsmen posted a competitive total of 162/8.

The innings was anchored by two key partnerships.

Young Brian Bennett top-scored with a commanding 49 off 42 balls, narrowly missing a second consecutive half-century.

Captain Sikandar Raza provided the late innings impetus, striking 47 from 32 balls in a crucial 61-run stand with Bennett for the third wicket.

Ryan Burl added a useful 18 off 11 to push the total past 160. Wanindu Hasaranga was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers with a three-wicket haul.

The second innings, however, belonged entirely to Zimbabwe’s bowlers.

The African side’s attack was brilliant, exploiting a tricky pitch to skittle Sri Lanka for a meagre 95 — their third sub-100 total in 2025.

Pacer Brad Evans led the charge, rocking the top order and finishing with phenomenal figures of 3 wickets for just 9 runs.

Richard Ngarava set the tone early with the new ball, claiming 2/15.

The remaining wickets were shared by the spinners, with Graeme Cremer, Ryan Burl and skipper Sikandar Raza all taking one scalp apiece.

Tinotenda Maposa also managed to pick one wicket.

Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka offered the only real resistance with 34 off 25 balls.

Raza was deservedly named Man of the Match for his all-round contribution: a vital 47 runs and a tidy 1/23 with the ball.

The comprehensive victory puts vital points on the board for the Chevrons in the Tri-Series.
