Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. A Zimbabwean High Court has nullified the conviction and sentencing of former opposition legislator Job Sikhala on charges of obstructing the course of justice. The acquittal does not guarantee the vocal opposition politician his freedom, as he remains in jail on other charges that are still pending before the courts. Sikhala has been in prison since his arrest in June 2022 and has been denied bail by the Zimbabwean courts on numerous occasions. He was in May this year convicted and fined six hundred US dollars by a Harare Magistrate but he challenged the ruling. Sikhala still faces incitement of public violence charges.
