Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. National Foods Holdings Limited emerged among the standout exhibitors at the just-ended Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo, clinching two major accolades that underscore returns from its recent capacity expansion drive.
The agro-industrial giant secured second place in the Supreme Zimbabwean Exhibit Award and won the ZITF Recorded Delivery Service Award at the 2026 Connect Africa Symposium, held on the sidelines of the fair.
The recognition follows a US$22,7 million investment in new production facilities commissioned last May by Emmerson Mnangagwa in Harare. The project delivered three plants — pasta, biscuit and cereal — marking a strategic pivot towards higher-value food processing.
Since then, the group has posted firm aggregate volume growth, driven by increased output and operational efficiencies. The expanded capacity has enabled import substitution while strengthening its foothold in regional export markets.
ZITF marketing and corporate communications manager Thandolwenkosi Nkomo said adjudication was based on visual impression, originality, thematic relevance, accessibility of information and the professionalism of exhibition staff.
He added that judges placed particular emphasis on alignment with this year’s theme, “Connected Economies, Competitive Industries,” rewarding exhibitors that clearly demonstrated their contribution to industrial growth and regional integration.
The awards highlight the impact of National Foods’ investment programme and its move up the value chain, reinforcing its role in Zimbabwe’s manufacturing recovery.
