24-Year-Old Arrested for Break-Ins in Chiredzi Zvishavane

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Police have arrested 24-year-old Jabulani Gumbo in connection with a series of unlawful entry and theft cases reported between July 2024 and 2 July 2025 in Chiredzi and Zvishavane.

According to National Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Zvishavane received a tip-off on 6 July 2025 that the suspect was in possession of a cellphone stolen during a break-in at Mudereki Village, Zvishavane, on 2 July.

Acting on the information, officers tracked Gumbo to Kofi Village in Zvishavane, where he was arrested on 7 July. The stolen cellphone was recovered during the operation.

Following his arrest, Gumbo has been linked to at least seven cases of unlawful entry and theft.

These include a 26 May 2025 break-in at a shop in Mudereri Village, Zvishavane, where groceries were stolen, and a 1 May 2025 case in which a motorbike was taken from a bedroom at Section 10, Hippo Valley Estate, Chiredzi.

The stolen motorbike was later recovered in the Madzivadondo area of Zvishavane.
