Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. KAROI regional magistrate Joseph Mabesa granted US$200 bail each to Hurungwe Rural District Council (RDC) officials Felistus Muteta (47), Brighton Dube (50) and Chamunorwa Mufuma (57).
The three are being charged with theft or alternatively criminal abuse of duty as a public official.
It is the State’s case that between 2024 and 2025, Dube, who is the internal auditor of Hurungwe RDC made a claim of US$3 853 for boarding fees at a private school, which was above the threshold.
Mufuma, who is the administration and human resources manager, did the same by applying for US$3 750 boarding fees for his child who is enrolled at a private college, a figure also said to be above the threshold.
Muteta, who was the acting chief executive officer, unlawfully approved the payment.
The trio was represented by Shepherd Hokoma of Masawi and Partners.
