Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. A car importation agent from Harare was brought before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo, facing charges of defrauding a bank employee US$ 5500 in a botched car deal.

Shylock Chiombe was released on US$100 bail and advised to reside at the same address until the matter is finalised.

State alleges that sometime in July 2025, the complainant, Tafadzwa Chiduko wanted to import a from Japan and engaged the services of Chiome.

The pair met at Eastgate Mall in Harare and Chiduko gave Chiome cash US$3,000 as a deposit.

A few days later, Chiome went to Chiduko’s office and was given another US$2,000 and promised to deliver the motor vehicle after two months.

After two months, Chiome failed to deliver the vehicle as promised, leading to Chiduko filing a complaint with the police.
