Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Glidwell Trading, operating as Bhola Hardware City, represented by Bhavik Kanttial Jassa (32) has been convicted at Harare magistrates’ courts after being found guilty of possession and selling unspecified medicines.
The company appeared before Harare magistrate Gamuchirai Gore who ordered it to pay a fine of US$300 for selling unapproved medicine.
The State represented by Mandirasa Chigumira proved that on July 21 this year, detectives from the CID Drugs and Narcotics in Harare received information that the company was selling unapproved complementary medicines at Bhola Mega Market.
The detectives reportedly carried out surveillance at the shop and observed unapproved complementary medicines being sold.
They approached Jassa, identified themselves and advised him that they wanted to conduct a search in the shop.
The court heard that the detectives seized various goods including bottles of Tsunami and tins of Essential Balm which are unapproved complementary medicines by the regulating authority of Zimbabwe.
The unapproved complementary medicines were recovered from tilts and a glass display cubicle inside the shop.
Jassa was subsequently arrested and escorted to CID Drugs together with the seized unapproved complementary medicines.
