Boxing: Kuda Chiwandire’s Title Defence Match Postponed Again

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. A boxing match in which a Zimbabwean female boxing champion, Kuda Chiwandire was scheduled to defend her WBC interim super bantamweight title has been postponed to a later date.

Chiwandire was scheduled to fight against mandatory challenger and Mexican Zulina Munoz in Harare on Saturday 01 October 2022.

The promoters of the fight, Delta Force Boxing Academy, confirmed the development. Clyde Musonda, Delta Force Boxing Academy director told ZBC News:

This week it’s no longer feasible to hold the fight, but we are now in communication with Munoz camp and WBC over a new date.

This is the second time that Chiwandire’s mandatory defence of her WBC interim super bantamweight title has been postponed after it was moved from August.

Chiwandire won the title in February after beating former world champion Catherine Phiri of Zambia via a split decision and was supposed to defend it within six months, but that has lapsed with WBC giving her a reprieve.

It remains to be seen if the WBC will give Chiwandire another chance to defend her title.

Even if they reach an agreement with the Munoz camp, the final decision lies with the WBC on whether the fight will go ahead or strip her of the title.
