Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Broadcast journalist, writer, and actress Cordelia Masalethulini was reportedly found murdered in Borrowdale, Harare, on Monday.
The 45-year-old’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief from family, friends, and colleagues across the media industry.
Masalethulini, the younger sister of former top model Brita Masalethulini, was a highly regarded journalist whose work spanned Zimbabwe and South Africa.
She served as an international news anchor at eNCA News before joining ZiFM Stereo and the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC), where she presented the main news bulletins and the Good Morning Zimbabwe programme.
Masalethulini also worked at Eleven Dogs Inc, hosting the programme State of the Nation and running her own platform, CocoMass, which produced voice-overs, documentaries, and television content focused on distinctive African storytelling.
Her journalism often emphasised investigative reporting and initiatives aimed at empowering women in the media sector.
She was also involved with The NewsHawks, operating from their offices for a period.
Beyond journalism, Masalethulini was a talented actress. She appeared in the 2024 film Neria 21, a remake of the classic Neria, playing the role of Jane Machacha.
At the time of her passing, she was developing several storytelling and film projects in collaboration with peers in Zimbabwe’s media industry.
Masalethulini’s work and influence have left an enduring mark on the media landscape.
