Businessman Killed By Own Car In Rusape

A man from Rusape died last week after being run over by his own vehicle at his home in the Crocodile suburb.

Morris Majiri, the owner of Staunch Hardware in Rusape, was driving his Nissan Caravan when it got stuck in a ditch near his house.

He got out of the vehicle to check the situation, but as he stood in front of it, the car suddenly moved forward.

The vehicle pinned him between the bumper and a water meter slab, crushing his leg.

Majiri’s tenant, Isaac Kudzanai, rushed to help after hearing screams from passengers inside the vehicle.

Kudzanai managed to reverse the car, freeing Majiri, who was then taken to Rusape General Hospital.

He was treated and discharged, but five days later, his condition worsened due to internal bleeding.

On 16 January, around midnight, his condition deteriorated further while he was at home with his wife, and he died before he could be taken back to the hospital.

Majiri was buried on Monday morning at Silverbow Cemetery in Rusape.

A post-mortem examination at the hospital showed that he had suffered severe internal injuries, including a damaged kidney and a ruptured lung.

Experts warn that drivers should always engage park and apply the handbrake when stopping, especially on slopes, to prevent such accidents.
