Businesswoman Loses R200 000 To Armed Robbers In West Nicholson

Africa-PressZimbabwe. Four armed robbers raided the home of a businesswoman from Johnsly area under West Nicholson policing area and went away with R200 000 on Tuesday night.

Egneter Dhlamini (61), who is co-owner of Nthabeni Store and Cophital Mine 22 in the area, was raided at around 10 pm.

The robbers allegedly arrived at the homestead dressed in blue work suits with yellow reflectors and armed with a pistol.

Matabeleland South police spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena confirmed the robbery incident, saying investigations were in progress. She said:

The suspects found the complainant asleep in her bedroom. Her four relatives were sleeping in separate rooms.

They broke the door to the house and forced everyone out demanding to be given some money by Dhlamini.

Insp Mangena added that the robbers threatened to kill the five people if they resisted taking orders or attempted to alert neighbours.

They then fired two shots in the air, forcing Dhlamini to collect R200 000 from her bedroom which she handed over to the four men.

After collecting the cash, the gang fired another two shots before melting into the darkness.

The robbers are still at large.
