Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. THE Corporate Governance and Accounting Institute in Zimbabwe (CGAIZ) kicks off its highly anticipated annual conference from tomorrow until Saturday in the resort city of Victoria Falls.
The annual event is expected to bring together thought leaders, policymakers and industry professionals to chart a bold path toward Zimbabwe’s economic revival.
In a statement ahead of the event, CGAIZ said the conference was being held under the theme Inspire, Innovate, Sustain: Charting the Course for Zimbabwe’s Economic Rebound.
“The Corporate Governance and Accounting Institute in Zimbabwe (CGAIZ) is poised to host its highly anticipated annual conference from September 17 to 20 at the iconic Elephant Hills Resort,” CGAIZ said.
“The conference is bringing together thought leaders, policymakers and industry professionals to chart a bold path toward Zimbabwe’s economic revival.
“Under the theme Inspire, Innovate, Sustain: Charting the Course for Zimbabwe’s Economic Rebound, the event promises a dynamic blend of strategic dialogue, expert insights and collaborative action.”
The conference is expected to spotlight the critical role of governance, ethics, and sustainability in rebuilding resilient institutions and unlocking national potential.
The keynote address will be delivered by Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development minister Monica Mutsvangwa.
“Her presentation, titled Global Lessons in Economic Revival: Governance at the Core, is expected to set a powerful tone for the proceedings, drawing on international best practices and local imperatives,” CGAIZ said.
CGAIZ chief executive and secretary Lovemore Gomera emphasised the urgency and relevance of this year’s theme.
“Zimbabwe stands at a pivotal moment. We must inspire bold leadership, innovate across sectors, and sustain reforms that drive inclusive growth,” he said.
“Corporate governance is not a luxury, but the backbone of economic resilience.
“This conference is a rallying point for professionals who believe in rebuilding with integrity and foresight.”
Gomera added that CGAIZ was proud to convene voices that matter, from regulators to entrepreneurs, from sustainability champions to financial experts.
“Together, we will explore how ethical leadership and strategic partnerships can transform our economy and restore public trust,” he said.
The speaker line-up also features a distinguished array of experts, including Taurai Marembo, National Social Security Authority general manager Charles Shava, Old Mutual Zimbabwe chief executive officer Samuel Mutsekete and respected tax and audit expert Florid Mashonga.
Others include FirstRand Group head of environmental and social risk management, Madeline Ronquest, HR and strategy specialist Rose Nhamo and Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce chief executive officer Christopher Mugaga.
The guests also include Freeman Nomvalo, former chief executive officer of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, as well as Owen Mavengere, the technical manager at Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe.
Their sessions will delve into pressing topics.
These are topics such as Bouncing Back from Hard Times: The Role of Corporate Governance & Ethics in Industry and Commerce; The Future of Strategic Partnerships; ESG & Sustainability Reporting: Unlocking Africa’s Natural Capital; and Regulation & Risk Management and Building Resilient Businesses.
