Chatunga Mugabe’s Court Case Postponed Again Due To Power Outage

The case involving Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, the 28-year-old son of the late former President Robert Mugabe, and his co-accused, Tobias Mugabe Matonhodze, has been postponed once again, this time due to a power outage at Alexandra Magistrates’ Court in Johannesburg.

The pair appeared briefly on Thursday morning, but proceedings were stopped, and their next court date has been set for 11 March 2026, when they are expected to apply for bail.

They face multiple charges, including attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors are also expected to add two more counts: pointing a firearm and contravening the Immigration Act.

The two men are accused of shooting a 23-year-old gardener in the back at the Mugabe Hyde Park home on 19 February.

The victim, reportedly an employee at the Mugabe residence, sustained injuries in the alleged incident.
