Chimanimani Bus Accident Death Toll Rises To 38

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. The death toll in the Jopa-Skyline Road Bus accident that occurred on Thursday night when an overloaded St Charles Lwanga High School bus had 106 ZCC congregants on board careered into a deep ravine has risen to 38, police have said.

Police said the names of the deceased will be released soon.

In a statement shared via the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) this Sunday, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi also confirmed another bus accident that occurred along the Bulawayo Victoria Falls at 2 AM today.

Police said two people died, while four others were injured when a Stallion Cruise bus had a sideswipe with a haulage truck at the 180 km peg along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls road near Jotsholo. Read the statement:

The ZRP confirms that two people died and four others were injured when a Stallion Bus had a sideswipe with a haulage truck at the 180 km peg along Bulawayo Victoria Falls Rd near Jotsholo at 0200 hours today.

Earlier reports had claimed that fourteen people were seriously injured in the accident.

The injured were reportedly taken to the nearby St Luke’s Hospital in Lupane, while the bodies of the deceased were retrieved from the wreckage.
