Chinese embassy warns on bogus travel agents

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. HARARE, Nov. 15 (NewsDay Live) – The Chinese embassy has warned of unofficial travel agents milking Zimbabweans seeking visas to the Asian country.

Posting on his X handle, Zhou Ding, China’s ambassador said: “It has come to our attention that some applicants are paying significantly higher fees to third-party agents for Chinese visa services. To avoid misunderstanding, our Visa Section has published a notice. I advise all applicants to confirm the official visa fees directly with our office to avoid paying unnecessary costs.”

He said the embassy had “not authorised or appointed any agent, intermediary, or individual to handle or assist with consular document-related services on its behalf. Up-to-date information regarding the Embassy’s consular services, including the straightforward visa application process, is published on the Embassy’s official website in a transparent and comprehensive manner.”

“Applicants are hereby reminded to submit visa applications exclusively through the global official application portal.”
