Chinhoyi Council Officials Blame Artefacts for Struggles

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. IN a tale that seems plucked from the pages of farce, some officials at the Municipality of Chinhoyi lay the blame for their fiscal woes squarely upon the shoulders of the so-called “yoke” artefacts.

This peculiar revelation emerged after the “yoke”, once gracing the western wing of the ground floor, vanished into thin air.

A council worker, who preferred anonymity, recounted that a high-ranking official decreed its removal, declaring it to be the harbinger of misfortunes, citing the council’s ongoing financial tribulations.

“The official (name supplied) ordered us to rid ourselves of the yoke, claiming it casts a pall of ill luck upon our coffers, insisting it is the very reason for our perpetual lack,” the worker divulged.

Upon NewsDay Weekender’s visit to the Town House, the “yoke” was conspicuously absent from its customary perch.

Council spokesperson Tichaona Mlauzi refrained from commenting, but previously waxed poetic about the artefact, asserting it to be a “symbol of service” dating back to colonial times.

“It is a symbol of service rendered during the early days of colonisation, when refuse was collected via ox-drawn carts,” Mlauzi proclaimed, as if to elevate the object to monumental status.

Thus, the council finds itself ensnared in a web of superstition, attributing its financial plight not to mismanagement or folly, but to a mere piece of history, a yoke.

One cannot help but chuckle at the absurdity of it all, as the officials seek solace in the removal of an artefact, rather than confronting the true source of their woes.
