Political activist, Hopewell Chin’ono who was arrested Tuesday on allegations of contempt of court an obstructing the course of justice, is expected in court today.

Chin’ono is accused of flouting his bail conditions in the case in which he is charged with inciting public violence.

Part of his bail conditions were that he would stop using his Twitter account, which he allegedly defied.

In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed that Chin’ono was arrested for contravening section 182 of the Criminal Law and Codification and Reform Act.

Chin’ono allegedly used his Twitter account to send various messages including claims that he was in communication with the National Prosecution Authority.

This is the second time that the journalist-cum activist has been arraigned before the courts.

He was released on bail in September after spending close to two months in remand prison on charges of inciting Zimbabweans to revolt against the government.
