Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has dismissed as false the widespread social media claims suggesting that Churchill Road will be closed for nearly six months starting June 9, 2025.
In a statement issued on Sunday, June 8, the Ministry asserted that no roadworks or closures are scheduled at this time, and Churchill Road remains fully open to traffic. The statement reads:
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development is aware of false social media reports circulating today (8 June 2025), claiming that Churchill Road will close from 9 June until 28 November 2025 for a four-lane expansion project.
Please be advised that these claims are entirely untrue as Churchill Road remains fully open to traffic, and the road closure or construction work is yet to be effected.
The Ministry reaffirms its commitment to transparent communication: should any future road closures be approved, the public will be notified well in advance through official channels, including the Ministry’s website, verified social media accounts, and all government platforms.
We urge the motoring public and residents to disregard these rumours.
