THE Ministry of Finance and Economic Development says Civil Servants will start receiving their Cushioning Allowances in full starting from January 14 (Tuesday).
In a statement issued by the finance ministry, the move is a decision by the government to cushion members of the Public Service from hostile economic challenges.
“Treasury wishes to advise of the Government of Zimbabwe’s decision to cushion members of the Public Service from the adverse economic challenges through awarding an interim ‘Cushioning Allowance’ for January 2020,” reads the statement.
“This follows the Public Service Commission’s approval to implement the Government decision, guided by the capacity of the economy and the 2020 budget.”
Treasury has concurred with the Government’s decision to implement cushioning as follows;
“Band F $400, Band E $800, Band D $780, Band C $770, Band B $760 and Band A $750.”
In the statement, the government said it is committed to improving the welfare of all Civil Servants.
“Government is fully cognisant of the critical economic role that Civil Servants play in delivery of public services, and thus remains committed to improving the welfare of all Civil Servants in light of the current challenging macro-economic environment.”
