Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. More than 436 workers from all departments at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals are in isolation after contracting coronavirus while on duty, the hospital’s spokesperson Linos Dhire has said.

As a result, service delivery has been negatively impacted at the institution. Said Dhire:

The rate of infections is quite higher at our institutions compared to previous waves, which is a reflection of incidences of COVID-19 in the community.

We have a significant number of staff members across all departments who are in isolation.

The infections are affecting service delivery in our hospital.

According to data released by the Ministry of Health and Child Care, on Sunday 19 December 2021, 1 123 new cases and 5 deaths were recorded.

However, the 7-day rolling average for new cases went down to 3 665 from 3 810. Active cases also went down to 49 612.
