Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. A RECENT report prepared by the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (Artuz) has exposed poor working conditions in the education sector.

According to the report, the education sector could be saved through payment of United States dollar-based salaries.

“This data-driven report confirms what teachers and learners have known for long: Zimbabwe’s public education is on life support and the government’s continued neglect is now impossible to ignore,” Artuz said in a statement.

“Political elites were strongly criticised for prioritising luxury and corruption over fair wages for educators and other public servants.”

The report said government’s continued rollout of the ZiG currency was met with scepticism, especially from citizens paid in the unstable local currency while essential commodities like fuel remain priced in US dollars.

Visual content shared by Artuz showing classroom decay and picketing teachers gained traction across platforms, a clear signal of the power of real, lived experiences in shaping national conversations.

The ZIMPULSE report is a strategic tool for journalists, researchers and civil society seeking to understand citizens’ concerns and the digital activism landscape in Zimbabwe.

It offers concrete evidence of citizens’ dissatisfaction and their call for urgent reform.

Artuz urged journalists across the country to extract stories that matter from the report and help to amplify the voices of teachers and learners demanding dignity, fairness and access to quality public education.
