Africa-PressZimbabwe. 21-year-old Zimbabwean goalkeeper, Delrom Makina has signed a three-year contract with top Croatian side HNK Hajduk Split FC.

Makina moved to Croatia last month but is yet to make his debut and according to his manager, Gilbert Zulu, the youngster will start as the third-choice goalkeeper at his new club. Said Zulu:

Makina is a humble guy who is eager to learn and achieve a lot.

Makina was born in Harare and attended Kudzanayi Primary School and Kwayedza Secondary School in Highfield, before receiving a scholarship from Marlborough High School.

He then joined Supa Striker Soccer Academy, when he was only 11, and played for Excel Academy, which is based in Mount Pleasant.

Makina also played for Supa Strikers and FC Mbare in the ZIFA Harare Province Division Two B league and was on the books of Highfield Academy, in Division Two by the time he moved to Europe.

The youngster joins a growing list of Zimbabwean goalkeepers now plying their trades overseas, with Tatenda Mkuruva now in the United States, and Martin Mapisa in Spain.
