Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. DELTA Corporation has handed over modern classrooms at Sanya Primary School worth US$60 000, enhancing educational infrastructure in Muzarabani dsistrict, Mashonaland Central province.

The initiative is aimed at providing a safe and conducive learning environment while improving attendance and supporting Zimbabwe’s broader goals of delivering quality, equitable education for all children.

Established in 2015 with basic structures, Sanya Primary School has benefited from new classroom blocks and sanitation facilities funded through a public-private partnership with Delta Corporation.

Speaking during the commissioning of the two classroom blocks on Monday this week, Primary and Secondary Education secretary Chris Mhike said the project underscored a collective commitment to investing in the future of Zimbabwe’s youth.

“The two by two classroom blocks with a carrying capacity of 180 pupils will provide spacious and well-ventilated classrooms where our children will engage in interactive learning,” he said.

“On the other hand, the two by five ablution facilities, will ensure that our pupils have safe and dignified sanitation facilities which are a basic human right that underpins effective education provision.”

He commended Delta Corporation for providing building material and the Sanya community for taking it upon itself to provide locally-available building material and labour that made the project a huge success.

“By investing in the construction of classroom blocks to attain a full-fledged primary school in our community, we will be investing in the future of our children and that of our nation,” Mhike said.

Delta Corporation executive director Tichafa Rinomhota said the project took six months to complete, adding that the company was committed to uplifting the communities it serve.

“Education remains one of the most meaningful ways to build long-term impact. These investments are not just buildings — they are a promise,” he said.

Mashonaland Central Provincial Affairs and Devolution minister Christopher Magomo applauded Delta for ensuring the growth of Sanya Primary School, established to offer quality education closer to home for learners who previously travelled long distances to Chimoio and Kairezi Central primary schools.

“Long distances, flooded rivers and safety risks contributed to school dropouts and delayed enrolment for many children,” he said.

“Despite these challenges, learners and teachers displayed great resilience, at one point conducting lessons under trees and in pole-and-dagga structures built by the community.”
