Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Doves Funeral Services have pledged to give a “sendoff befitting a true Warrior” to slain former Warriors defender, Charles Yohane.
Yohane who was part of the Warriors team that was first to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals hosted by Tunisia in 2004, was shot dead on Saturday in South Africa where he was based.
The assailants, one of which has since been arrested, also took his car and drove off. In a statement this Friday, Doves Holdings incorporating Zororo Phumulani in South Africa said they felt very touched by the passing on of Yohane who contributed immensely to football in Zimbabwe. Said Doves:
The best-left foot in Zimbabwean football, an absolute gentleman, a legend. As we mourn with the nation and the football fraternity, we also look forward to giving you a sendoff befitting a true Warrior. Rest in Peace Charles Yohane.
According to family members, the former Bidvest Wits player had gone to a match and encountered the carjackers in Soweto on his way home.
CCTV footage of Yohane’s kidnapping at a traffic light emerged where a gang of four men jumped into his BMW vehicle and forced him to drive off.
