Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. The former Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions, Dynamos FC, yesterday left Harare with ecstatic celebrations after a 3-2 victory against a star-studded Scotland FC.
Scotland led 1-0 in the first half before Dynamos striker Vusa Nyenya equalized in the 48th minute of the second half. The veteran forward Denver Mukamba, the prodigal son of Dynamos, faced the very club that cast him aside, Scotland, for the first time. According to a top bookmarker, the Mabvuku based side is expected to be crowned champions.
Mukamba sealed a stunning come-from-behind victory for Dynamos over title-chasing newcomers, Scotland, in a five-goal thriller at a packed Rufaro Stadium.
The goal was struck at a beautiful angle and was appreciated by many sports analysts, including Scotland owner Scott Sakupwanya, who rewarded his former star with $1 000 cash after the match.
Dynamos coach Kelvin Kaindu expressed happiness after his team’s performance.
“It’s a good win for us. The team showed a lot of character and determination,” he said. “We knew that when we give a chance to Denver, he is a game changer. He came in as a commander and gave us the winning goal. To beat a team like Scotland that has been winning continuously shows that we are slowly building confidence.”
This hard-fought win marks the fourth consecutive league victory for the Glamour Boys, who are fighting relegation.
Dynamos has managed to catch up with four other teams on 28 points, though they remain in 17th place due to a minor goal difference.
In an interview with NewsDay, Dynamos supporter Tawanda Chikuni said it would be a bad season next year to see Dynamos playing in the Division One side.
“Dembare is a big team, just like Bosso and CAPS United, and honestly we can’t watch Dynamos sinking to relegation after all these years,” Chikuni added.
