Africa-PressZimbabwe. A local football agent, Professor Tatenda Wadyajena, has pleaded with the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe (FUZ) to help players that are being forced to roll over their contracts by their clubs.

Wadyajena, a Sports Science and Management final-year student at Bindura University, said the union must get involved in solving the problems faced by players. He told H-Metro:

As a manager, I hope FUZ will step in to defend players rights because I feel they’re being infringed.

I manage Talent Chamboko and Valentine Kadonzvo. Chicken Inn wanted compensation of $11 500 and training kits from Ngezi Platinum for them to sign Kadonzvo.

Manica Diamonds wanted all the salaries they paid Chamboko in 2020 and his signing on fee for him to sign for Ngezi Platinum.

I am now worried because my players were ready to face new challenges, it’s affecting them psychologically and their performance.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) recently said was is sticking to its resolution that player contracts that expired in December 2020 should be rolled over to this year.

The 2020 Premier League season was abandoned due to COVID-19-induced lockdowns and some players’ contracts expired before playing for the clubs they had signed for.
