Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) has increased the local component producer prices for 2022/23 summer crops.

The producer price of maize has been increased to ZWL$100 000 plus US$90 per metric tonne from ZWL$75 000 plus US$90 per metric tonne.

The producer price of traditional grains has also been increased to ZWL$100 000 plus US$90 per metric tonne from ZWL$75 000 plus US$90 per metric tonne.

The price of soya beans has been increased to ZWL$228 660 plus US$90 per metric tonne from ZWL$171 495 plus US$90 per metric tonne.

The price of sunflower has been increased to ZWL$274 392 per metric tonne plus US$90 from ZWL$205 794 plus US$90 per metric tonne.

GMB chief executive officer Rockie Mutenha said the new prices are effective 03 August 2022. He added:

GMB is encouraging farmers to immediately deliver their crops to the nearest depot or collection point.

We are further encouraging farmers who had not opened their Nostro accounts to do so to enable us to deposit the foreign currency component.
