It is 13 Days left before optimum planting window ends and the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in Mashonaland Central, Monica Mavhunga convened a meeting to iron out challenges that may be facing stakeholders as there are only 13 days left for the wheat planting window.

“The reason why we are here is how to achieve our hectarage. Right now water is sufficient and there is power. What could be disturbing farmers. Some farmers even have underground pipes for irrigation,” said the Minister.

“To get more we must plant by the 31st of May. CBZ did they have enough funds to sponsor 60 thousand hectares of wheat so all out 18 thousand hectares seed and fertiliser requirements can fit into their plans,” he said

The meeting was attended key players comprising Agritex, ZESA, ZINWA, GMB, seed and fertiliser suppliers. Farmers were also at hand to say challenges which they are encountering regards wheat production.
