Government is moving to ensure the completion of its critical infrastructure projects in Matabeleland North province.

This was revealed by Vice President Kembo Mohadi on his recent tour of projects in the provincial capital Lupane.

There are several outstanding projects in Matabeleland North province. VP Mohadi saw some of them which include the new government complex, civil servants houses and the provincial minister’s residence at the provincial capital, Lupane.

There is need to ensure the projects are completed, said the Vice President.

“I will be meeting with those who are in charge of running these projects and we must make sure they are completed. They have been ongoing for some time now and we need to move and complete them.”

Due to the incompletion of these projects key government departments are still housed in Bulawayo including the office of the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution.

Under the devolution concept, critical services have been taken to provincial and local levels to ensure swift service provision, decision making and involvement of locals in the day to day running of their affairs.

The new government complex will be named the Welshman Mabhena Complex in recognition of the liberation struggle icon who served in various capacities after independence.
