Guruve Serial Killer Claims Two More Victims

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Two more people, a 55-year-old woman and a six-month-old infant, were brutally murdered in Guruve on Thursday, raising the total number of victims in the area over the past few weeks to ten.

Police have identified villager Anymore Zvitsva, 32, as the prime suspect in the killings. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have offered a reward for any information that could lead to his arrest.

ZRP spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the latest murders in a statement issued on Friday, urging members of the public to come forward with credible information. He said:

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating the brutal murder of an elderly woman aged 55 and a six-month-old infant at Farm 88, Nyakapupu, Guruve, on 18th December 2025.

“The victims were found with multiple head injuries. More details will be released in due course.”

On 11 December, five members of the Zvitsva family from Ona Mapeto Farm in Ward 21, Guruve, were killed in a brutal attack that has shocked the community.

The victims included 66-year-old Grace Zvitsva, her 40-year-old son Tendai Zvitsva, 37-year-old Loice Chiringaushe, and Loice’s two young children, five-year-old Takudzwa Kariva and two-year-old Tatenda Chirenje.

According to The Herald, Tendai, a divorced father of three, had been diverted from going to his homestead by Loice because he was intoxicated on the day of the attack.

Anymore Zvitsva, a nephew in the Zvitsva family, has been identified as the main suspect. He is reported to have harboured deep-seated grudges against some of the victims following previous disputes.

Family spokesperson Never Gwaze said threats against the family began during what was meant to be a peaceful traditional ceremony.

Grace Zvitsva had travelled to her rural home in Vheremu Village to perform a Shona cultural ritual known as “kuendesa mombe yeumai.”

Gwaze said that around midnight, Anymore and a group of people descended on the homestead in Vheremu.

The attackers allegedly tied all the doors from the outside with wire. Gwaze’s young brother, Marvelous Kwaipa, reportedly tried to escape but was struck on the hand with an axe. Said Gwaze:

“We called out to Grace, but her door had also been tied from the outside. We fled to the village head seeking refuge, but even he was too frightened to come outside.”

Gwaze said that Anymore had previously been identified by Grace during a citizen’s arrest at Nyatsanza Mountain, an incident that reportedly left him deeply angered. Said Gwaze:

“He also blamed Grace for having him exposed after he was caught stealing maize. From that day, he vowed to avenge.”

Adding to the family’s fears, Anymore’s father, Fresha Zvitsva, was a known cattle rustler and convicted murderer who later died in prison.

Seven suspects, including Anymore Zvitsva, were reportedly apprehended by community members at Nyatsanza Mountain but were subsequently released by the Guruve police, a move that has angered local people.

Before the murders at the Zvitsva homestead, Anymore is alleged to have killed Pamela Chipangura and her two children, Kudzai and Tawanda, in cold blood in Zimuna Village. Pamela, who was 39 at the time, was murdered alongside her children in a brutal attack.
