Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. GURUVE serial killer Anymore Zvitsva, who is suspected to have killed more than 15 people around Guruve and Mvurwi in Mashonaland Central, has been remanded on his hospital bed.
Zvitsva, who was continuously interjecting court officials surrounding his bed, boasted saying he had beaten his father’s record by flying on a helicopter after committing the heinous crime.
The suspected killer narrated how he killed four members of the same family, saying after killing the father and mother of that family he saw a one-and-half-year-old baby and killed him after realising that no one would look after him.
The 31-year-old killer was remanded to January 19 by Harare magistrate Vakai Douglas Chikwekwe.
He was charged with murder, attempted murder and two counts of rape.
According to the court documents, on March 6 last year in Rangwani village, Chief Chipuriro, Guruve, Jane Dube was sleeping in her bedroom in the company of her three-year-old child.
At around 10pm, Zvitsva approached the homestead, knocked at the door and demanded money from the deceased.
The deceased tried to block the accused from entering the house, but he broke the door before the woman bolted out of the house.
Zvitsva reportedly chased her and struck her several times all over the body with an iron rod, leaving her dead in a maize field before he fled.
In April 2024, Modester lsaac of Farm 14 Nyakapupu in Guruve, went with her cattle to Farm 16, where Zvitsva allegedly grabbed the deceased person and force-marched her to a thick gum tree plantation, while wielding a knife.
It is alleged that one of the deceased’s relatives, who was coming from his homestead with his cattle in a bid to join her, saw Zvitsva force-marching Isaac and quickly rushed back home to inform other villagers.
It is alleged that on arrival at the gum tree plantation, Zvitsva forced Isaac to lie down and raped her once.
Zvitsva then strangled Isaac with a wire and hung her body on a tree, before disappearing.
It is alleged that the deceased’s relative came back with the villagers and looked for her but they failed to locate her.
Isaac’s body was found in the bush.
It is alleged that on October 7 last year in Village 3, Berris Post Mvurwi, Alice Marangarire left her homestead to look for her cattle in the grazing area.
Zvitsva allegedly pounced on her, holding a machete and threatening to stab her if she made noise before strangling her using a wire.
Her body was recovered the next day.
The court also heard that on October 27 last year, in Mubaiwa village, Chief Bepura, Guruve, Elisha Dickens Chikwavarara and Dudzai Mazuvaawanda left home for their garden about 400 metres away.
Zvitsva allegedly pounced on the two wielding a machete threatening to kill them, before he commandeered them to a stream where he killed Chikwavarara with an unknown object.
He allegedly took Mazuvaawanda about 20 metres away and strangled her with a wire before hanging her body on a tree.
In November 2025, Zvitsva strangled Stacey Pulango and Alret Kayn of Plot 31 Nyakapupu, Guruve, armed with a knife and a tying wire, which he used to threaten them.
On December 9 last year in Zimuna village, Chief Bepura, Guruve, Pamela Chipangura, Kudzai Chipangura and Tadiwanashe Marasika retired to bed and Zvitsva allegedly went to the homestead with snare wire.
He allegedly forced open a door to gain entry to the house before ordering Pamela to lie on the floor, hooked her on the neck with a snare wire and strangled her.
He allegedly went to Kudzai, who was asleep and used the snare wire to strangle her before using the same method to kill Marasika.
He then kidnapped another person and took her to Nyakapupu Mountain where he raped her.
On December 10, the woman attempted to escape, but Zvitsva allegedly killed her before burying her body in the mountain.
On December 14 at Plot 9, Ona Farm in Guruve, Grace Zvitsva, Loice Chiringaushe, Takudzwa Kariba and Tatenda Chirenje were sleeping in the main bedroom while Tatenda Zvitsva was sleeping in the kitchen hut opposite the main house.
At around 10pm, Zvitsva got to the homestead armed with a knife and a spear and entered the kitchen hut where he stabbed Chirenje twice on the left side of the chest and on the back.
After stabbing Chirenje, Zvitsva allegedly proceeded to the main house, destroyed a makeshift window to gain entry to the main bedroom.
He allegedly stabbed the four to death.
On December 22, Zvitsva allegedly went to Bosha village, where Saujati Matora was sleeping in the main bedroom, while Shallome Malunga and Mavis Malunga were in the spare bedroom.
At around 11pm, Zvitsva reportedly went to the homestead armed with a knife and a snare wire, peeped through the window of the spare bedroom and threatened to shoot Shallome and Mavis.
Shallome ran into the main bedroom for refuge, but Zvitsva allegedly rushed to the back door, forced it open and gained entry to the house.
He then proceeded to the main bedroom and found Matora and Shallome while Mavis was hiding under the bed.
He allegedly took Matora to the spare bedroom, forced her to drink an unidentified poison and strangled her with the snare wire.
Zvitsva allegedly went back to the main bedroom and raped Mavis before allegedly forcing her to drink an unknown poison and strangling with the snare wire.
Zvitsva force-marched another victim to the mountains and raped her. It is alleged that after raping her, he was noticed by Tonderai Kamambo, who was chasing baboons armed with an air gun.
He allegedly fled up the Nyakapupu Mountain and left behind a 2,5 metres spear, an aluminium pot with cooked rice, black plastic material and a solar panel.
The items were recovered.
On December 13, in Chitunhu village, Fortune Mwazha closed her shop at Zvivindi business centre and retired to bed.
Zvitsva allegedly forced a door open and gained entry and suffocated her, leaving her unconscious.
He allegedly stole groceries and fled.
