Harare City Disowns Notice On Month-long Shutdown Of Morton Jaffray And Warren Control Waterworks

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Harare City Council (HCC) has disowned a notice that said the local government authority intends to shutdown Morton Jaffray and Warren Control Waterworks from 21 February to 21 March February 2022.

A notice circulating on social media purported to have been originated by HCC Acting Town Clerk, Engineer P. Moyo, said the said shutdown was meant to pave way for repairs on “breakdown of water pumps and main water suppy pipes.” Read the notice:

Please be advised that there shall be a total shutdown of Morton Jaffray and Warren Control Waterworks from 21 February to 18 March 2022 as a result of:

•Shortage of water treatment chemicals

• Breakdown of water pumps and main water supply pipes

The shutdown will enable the department to effectively deal with these outstanding issues and improve the water supply systems in the city.

Residents are encouraged to use water sparingly during this period or find alternative water sources. We sincerely regret for any inconveniences caused.

Acting Town Clerk

Eng.P.Moyo

A statement issued by the city fathers urged Harare residents to ignore the FAKE notice. Read a statement seen by Pindula News:

We do not have a scheduled shutdown of Morton Jaffray Water Treatment Plant from 21 February to 18 March 2022 as is being highlighted on social media platforms. We urge all our customers and stakeholders to disregard that message as it is patently false.
