The High court has postponed MDC Alliance national Vice-Chairperson, Job Sikhala’s bail hearing to the 11th of this month.
Sikhala, who is facing charges of inciting public violence ahead of the failed July 31 protests, has been at Chikurubi Maximum Prison since the 22nd of August.
Sikhala through his defence counsel led by Advocate Eric Matinenga submitted the appeal at the High Court last Friday, challenging the decision of the lower court to deny him bail.
However, the bail hearing was postponed to next Friday following the submissions by lawyer Jeremiah Bamu who told the court that Sikhala’s record could not be availed since the Magistrate who is presiding over the case is on leave.
Justice Erica Ndebele gave an order that the magistrate Mr Lazini Ncube must come back and sign the application or the Chief Magistrate has to sign it.
Meanwhile, the duo whose pictures went viral on social media linking them to the Chivhu shooting that occurred last week has appeared in court facing allegations of armed robbery.
The two Mbonisi Ndlovu and David Zungura were arrested two days after the Chivhu shooting incident.
Circumstances that led to the duo’s arrest are that on the 8th of this month, the two stormed Marry Mateyo’s House in Chitungwiza armed with a pistol and a craw bar.
They allegedly tied Mateyo’s hands using shoelaces before trying to rape the complainant’s daughter.
On the second account, the duo is being accused of assaulting a Mr Admore Tapfuma and his wife before they got away with 500 United States dollars.
The court also heard that on the same day the two proceeded to Ruwa where they tortured Tinashe Mbishi, his wife, housemaid, brother and children before robbing the family of 600 United States dollars.
