How Zimbabweans Reacted To Mnangagwa Mocking The RTGS Dollar

President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Thursday made remarks seemingly mocking the local RTGS Dollar currency. He was addressing the Ngangu community where he had gone to assess the progress being made to rehabilitate infrastructure destroyed by Cyclone Idai.

Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube and central bank governor, John Mangundya are trying very hard to talk up their RTGS Dollar. Their boss Emmerson Mnangagwa, the country’s CEO, makes a public joke out of the RTGS dollar, trashing it in the process. You couldn’t make it up Alex T. Magaisa

1. He rubbishes the valueless “RTG” currency he imposed on us by force and glorifies the USD which they’ve systematically looted from the people. 2. There’s little sense of occasion or empathy for the victims’ melancholy. How so very sad. Fadzayi Mahere

Mnangagwa, calling the collapsing local RTGS$ currency “ma RTG”, excited like a toddler who’s had a lollipop for the first time, talking about receiving USD 2,5 million from the US Ambassador in Harare for Cyclone Idai victims. Here the president is celebrating real money American dollars from Trump while casually disparaging RTGS dollars that Mangudya and Mthuli have foisted on us. Shocking!Nqaba Matshazi

For a man who scoffs at his own useless RTGs then force farmers to be paid the same is insulting. He knows how worthless it is but wishes to rob hardworking peasants their hard earned forex. This is supposed to be a president. This tyranny has gotten out of hand. People Power
