Hwange man in court for illegal possession of ivory

A Hwange man has appeared in court facing charges of illegal possession of ivory weighing more than 16 kilogrammes.
Adorn Ncube of St Mary’s in Hwange was arrested along the Victoria Falls – Bulawayo Highway after being found in possession of two white sacks containing raw ivory.

It is the state’s case that acting on a tip-off, detectives set up a trap for the accused pretending to be buyers.

A team comprising law enforcement agents, Parks and Wildlife Management Authority officers then met the accused who had allegedly brought the loot for the transaction on the 22nd of this month.

The accused has been remanded in custody to the 7th of February by Hwange Magistrate, Ailene Munamathi.
