Africa-PressZimbabwe. Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Khama Billiat has resumed contact training after missing action since January after sustaining a leg injury during a DStv Premiership match against Maritzburg United at the FNB Stadium.

Speaking about his inaction, the creative heart of Kaizer Chiefs’ midfield said “it has been difficult,” adding that as “professional footballers, we always want to contribute by playing through hard and good times so you can grow as a person.”

He expressed his frustration for missing “so many games” as he thought he would push himself harder and come back as soon as possible.

Since joining Amakhosi two years ago, the Warriors forward has not been able to replicate his form at Sundowns and has been hoping to do so this season.

Khama Billiat, who also saw Zimbabwe book their place in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) which will be staged in Cameroon next year, is now fully focused on getting back into the team.

Billiat also expressed his desire to be part of the Kaizer Chiefs team that hosts Wydad Casablanca in a crucial CAF Champions League game on Saturday. He confirmed:

I am back. Hopefully, the coach will give me a chance. Thankfully, I am training with the team. I just need to work on my fitness. As a player, it’s your mentality and how hard you work so you can contribute to the team.

His full recovery is good news to Zimbabweans who want him to have game time and be fully prepared for the delayed Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon next year.
