Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. IN a move that is set to decisively deal with terrorism, India has launched a ground breaking policy termed “Operation Sindoor” as a cornerstone of its defence policy, the Indian ambassador to Zimbabwe Bramha Kumar has announced.
Speaking on the latest developments, Kumar exclusively told NewsDay that the strategy signals the emergence of the MODI Doctrine, aimed at decisively reshaping how India confronts security threats.
The policy came in response to increased terror attacks on India with the latest being by Pakistani-trained terrorists, who killed 26 civilians in Kashmir last month.
Under the new policy, India has made it clear that it will also hold enablers, those who finance terrorists and harbour them accountable
The initiative outlines three critical pillars: “Decisive Retaliation on India’s Terms,” which promises rigorous responses to terrorist attacks; “Zero Tolerance for Nuclear Blackmail,” emphasising that India will not bow to nuclear threats; and a commitment to “No Distinction Between Terrorists,” ensuring that all forms of terrorism are met with unwavering resolve.
This strategic pivot underscores India’s determination to enhance national security and effectively combat terrorism in an increasingly complex global landscape.
“During his address to the nation on 12 May 2025, Prime Minister Modi stated that “Operation Sindoor is not just a name, but a reflection of the feelings of millions of people of the country,” Kumar said.
“It was India’s message to the world that barbarity will be met with calibrated force. The neighbouring country’s complicity in terrorism will no longer be shielded behind a diplomatic façade or nuclear rhetoric.”
Kumar said it is time India fights terror to protect its resources.
“History will remember India’s response to Pahalgam as measured and principled. It will remember our response to terror,” he said.
“India stood tall, spoke with one voice, and struck with one force. Operation Sindoor is not the end — it is the beginning of a new era of clarity, courage, and our firm resolve in tackling terror.”
The April 2025 attack was the biggest terror attack on India since the November 2008 attacks in 2008. Since the recent attacks in April, India has destroyed nine terror camps in Pakistan.
Modi also suspended the Indus Waters Treaty as a strategy to prevent further terror attacks.
Added ambassador Kumar, “India struck 11 Pakistani military bases with precision, causing significant damage.
“This compelled Pakistan to initiate contact, leading to a mutual agreement between both directors general of military operations to cease all military activity across land, air, and sea later that day.”
In a national address, Indian Prime Minister Modi said, “Operation Sindoor is not just a name, but a reflection of the feelings of millions of people of the country.”
