Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Italian club Udinese Calcio, commonly referred to as Udinese, has announced the signing of Zimbabwean international footballer Jordan Zemura.

He joins the club on a free transfer from Bournemouth and has signed a long-term deal effective 01 July 2023 to 30 June 2027.

Zemura is set to become the first Zimbabwean to play in Serie A, Italy’s top-flight football league.

The 23-year-old left-back was recently banished from the Bournemouth first team after the club received a letter of intent from Udinese, stating that the Italian outfit has opened talks with Zemura about a potential move.

In a post on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon, the Serie A club said “Welcome Jordan Zemura…

Zemura will spend the remainder of the 2022/23 season training with the Cherries’ development squad as his contract expires at the end of the season.

Zemura joined Bournemouth as an academy player in 2019 and was later promoted to the senior team, and his departure would see the club eligible for a compensation fee.

He has not featured in the Cherries’ last five matchday squads, following a “club decision” after the left-back refused to engage in talks over a new deal.

Bournemouth’s latest and final offer was made eight weeks ago, with the proposed deal in excess of £30 000 per week, alongside additional bonuses and achievable salary rises.

The club took the measure of sending Zemura to train with Alan Connell’s development squad as they look to focus on fighting for Premier League survival without distractions.
