Blessing Ganyaupe (52) of Muchikwa village in Mashonaland West province has been sentenced to 30 months behind bars after being found in possession of nearly 7kg of dagga.Acting on a tip-off, police in Magunje raided Ganyaupe’s home on July 2, 2025, where they discovered two hidden 20-litre buckets and plastic bags containing the drugs, leading to his arrest.He was sentenced to an effective 30 months imprisonment, with six months suspended for five years on the condition of good behaviour.
“Cases like this highlight the serious consequences of choosing the drug trade over honest living. The law is watching, and the courts are taking a firm stance,” said the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe in a statement.
