Katsande Delights In Maiden Goal For New SA Club

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. By Sports Reporter – VETERAN Zimbabwean midfielder Willard Katsande has expressed his delight after scoring his first goal for his new club Sekhukune United in the South African Premiership since leaving giants Kaizer Chiefs.

Katsande scored an important opening goal in Sekhukune United’s impressive 2-0 victory over Amazulu Wednesday evening which gave them their third successive victory.

“I’m very happy to score my first goal for Sekhukhune, I’m grateful for the opportunity to play for this badge and it’s not taken for granted, I take it seriously,” he said after they secured a big win over their much-fancied opponents despite finishing the match with ten men.

“I’ve always said, you will never doubt my commitment, whether I’m playing for a different team. But the most important thing is I’m a businessman to give all to the bosses and the team and here we are with three games won in a row.”

Katsande has warned his teammates not to “lose their heads” after winning their third match in a row to move into the top four.

“We need to continue doing well, improving as a team and not get ahead of ourselves now, go back to the drawing board, recoup, celebrate tonight and not lose our heads because the journey continues, we just need to keep going.”

The 35-year-old midfield strongman joined the newly-promoted South African club after spending a decade at Chiefs.

Since his move, Katsande has played a key role in Sekhukune’s impressive start to the season, in which they have risen to fourth in the top-flight after the first eight matches.

Sekhukhune face another tough test in their next game, away at Orlando Pirates on Tuesday.
