The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana, has claimed that COVID-19 quarantine centres in Mashonaland East have the capacity to accommodate 1806 people.
He tweeted:
Mash East Quarantine Centres have a capacity of 1806 people. Each of the nine districts has at least one centre with four districts providing the additional six facilities.

Many have however expressed great concern over the state of these centres saying that they lack basics required to ensure that the virus is contained.
There was outrage a few weeks ago after returnees from the United Kingdom alleged that there was no running water at Belvedere Teachers’ College where they were housed.
The government was also ridiculed after pictures of temporary isolation centre for coronavirus patients in Gweru made rounds on social media.
